Jewels  of Khmer,  Cambodia  Travel Package Overland Tours Booking Hotels in Phnom Penh , Kampong Cham , Kampong Thom ,Siem Reap                                                      This overland trip captures the grandeur of historical kingdoms and the beautiful countryside. Heading out of Phnom Penh, you travel by roads though the rural lands of Cambodia, Kampong Cham and Kampong Thom to Siem Reap. There are plenty of enjoyable stops to see the local villages and hidden temples. You see the sunrise at Angkor Wat, wander the crumbling ruins of Ta Prohm, marvel at the intricate bas-reliefs of Banteay Srei and visit a floating house on Tonle Sap Lake.
 
ITINERARY FOR THIS TRIP
Day 1: Arrival - Phnom Penh
Upon arrival at Phnom Penh airport, meets and transfers to hotel
Visit the National Museum, The Royal Palace, built by the French in 1866 on the site of the old town, and Silver Pagoda, which located within the Royal Palace ground. You will then end your tour with a visit to Wat Phnom Temple, Phnom Penh's namesake and have short tour to Killing Field were a number of sites in Cambodia where large numbers of people were killed and buried by the Khmer Rouge regime.
Boarding the boat for Mekong Sunset Cruise (1 hour)

Day 2: Phnom Penh - Tonle Bati - Killing Field - Phnom Penh (B)
After breakfast at hotel, leaving Phnom Penh to majority of the Exhibits are from the Angkor period from 9th to 15th century, but some date from as early as the 4th century. The next stop is one of the city's lively open markets, Psar Toul Tom Pong, all called the "Russian Market". We enjoy a walk around this bustling trading center and see plenty of local handicrafts and artifacts. The painful bloody rule of the Khmer Rouge still can be seen at the Tuol Sleng Prison Museum and the notorious 'Killing Fields' of Choeung Ek. We visit these infamous sites before heading south to explore the complex of Tonle Bati with Ta Prohm and Prasat Yeay Peo Temple. The ideal way of spending your last evening in Cambodia is to relax in a cafe by the riverfront. O/N in Phnom Penh.

Day 3: Phnom Penh - Kampong Cham - Kampong Thom - By Car 170 Kms (B,L)
Depart from hotel to next destination Cambodia's biggest growing rubber area. The deep contrast of lush vegetation and red surface of basaltic soil is incredible all along the way. On arrival in Kampong Cham we visit the beautiful French colonial architecture and the famous Wat Nokhor containing the ancient temple and modern style pagoda. The following destination is Kampong Thom. Along the way we make stop over at Phnom Pros and Phnom Srei, two hills whose names were translated as the 'man hill' and the 'woman hill'. After checking into hotel we visit some nearby villages and climb 980 steps to the top of Phnom Santuk for an impressive sunset view over the surrounding areas. O/N in Kampong Thom.

Day 4: Kampong Thom - Siem Reap - By Car 147 Kms (B,L)
Breakfast at hotel. Overland to Siem Reap, visiting on the way the Naga bridge at Kompong Kdei. Check into Hotel in Siem Reap.
In the afternoon visit the ancient capital of Angkor Thom (12th century). See The South Gate (with its huge statues depicting the churning of the ocean of milk), Bayon Temple (unique for its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces of Avolokitesvara), the Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, The Elephant Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King.
In the afternoon, visit the most famous of all the temples on the Angkor plain: Angkor Wat. The temple complex cover 81 hectares and is comparable in size to the Imperial Palace in Beijing . Its distinctive five towers are emblazoned on the Cambodian flag and the 12th century masterpiece is considered by art historians to be the prime example of classical Khmer art and architecture. Angkor Wat's Five Tower symbolize Meru's five peaks, the enclosed wall represents the mountains at the edge of the world and the surrounding moat symbolizes the ocean beyond. Sunset from Phnom Bakheng , one of two hills dominating the plain of Angkor, from where you will have a spectacular view of the Western Baray and Angkor Wat.

Day 5: Siem Reap - Angkor Temples (B,D)
In the morning, you will continue your temple visits. Included are Prasat Kravan (with its unique brick sculptures), Srah Srang ("The Royal Boths" was once used for ritual bathing), Banteay Kdei (surrounded by four concentric walls), Eastern Mebon (guarded at its corner by stone figures of harnessed elephants, some of which are still in a reasonable state of preservation) and the "Mountain Temple" of Pre Rup until sunset.
In the afternoon, transfer to the archaeological site and continue to the temple tour. Visit Ta Prohm, one of the most beautiful temples in the area. Ta Prohm has been left relatively untouched since it was discovered and retains much of its mystery. Then, visit Takeo , Thommanon and Chau Say Tevoda Temples. After tour, you will enjoy buffet dinner with Traditional Apsara Dance Show

Day 6: Siem Reap - Banteay Srei Temples - Tonle Sap Lake (B)
Breakfast at Hotel, visit Banteay Srei Temple (10th century), regarded as the jewel in the crown of classical khmer art. Then continue your visit to Banteay somre, built the third quarter of the 12th century .it consist of a central temple with four wings proceeded by a hall and accompanies by a two libraries, the southernmost of which is remarkably well preserved. Two concentric walls enclose the ensemble. Afternoon visit the Floating Village of Chong Khneas, located 10 km south of Siem Reap. O/N in Siem Reap

Day 7: Siem Reap - Departure (B)
We enjoy the leisure time in the morning until the flight departure.
